One of the biggest questions we receive at Pin-Centives is the difference between the different kinds of pins we make. Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll describe some of the differences that might be important to you, but remember, part of our service is the free expertise you get from our designers when we’re working with you on your unique needs.
The two most popular choices are hard enamel and soft enamel pins, which we will discuss below.
The biggest differences between hard and soft enamel are the finished texture of the pin and the cost. Hard enamel pins are more jewelry-like, with a noticeably flat and smooth finish, while soft enamel pins have a texture that can be left raw, or covered with a smooth, glossy epoxy dome. Both methods use the same die-struck process, and both will have bright and vibrant colors, so it’s hard to go wrong! However, these two different options each can be better used under different circumstances. Visit our Custom Pin Styles page to see examples.
Hard Enamel Pins are typically preferred for business environments and those who want the more durable lapel pins, with super high quality and no discoloration over a lifetime. They won’t ever fade or scratch. While soft enamel pins with a clear covering can yellow after some years, they still offer great looking product and can be used for a versatile selection of shapes and sizes. They tend to be more promotional and fun-loving! Sometimes, it’s really just a choice based on aesthetic preference, but sometimes the design or intended use indicates one type or the other.
At Pin-Centives, we offer both soft and hard custom enamel pins for a great price. We are more than happy to help you decide - in fact, that’s what we’re here for! If you are looking to purchase stock pins or create your own custom design, head to WWW.PINCENTIVES.COM and contact us any time.
